Taking The Decorating Choices To A Whole New Level

The basic household painting and decorating will generally not involve anything more brain taxing than paint or paper . . . and what colours.  Just the thought of having to choose a shade of paint these days does make me wobble with anxiety – the sort of problem that a room designer would relish and get wildly excited about no doubt!   I decided the cause of this fear of taking up the decorating baton is just not being a very tidy person myself, I know I probably would not make a tidy job of things but I also know that if i sat and planned my jobs, I could leave myself enough time to look at my existing room layout, take into consideration the colours of the carpet, cutains and furnishings,  in fact everything that is not being changed.  I also know that with careful planning, I can get a very good choice of colours to enhance the existing layout and give it a completely new look, by just moving away from the old staid colour scheme.

I have been reading up on the colour theory for decorating – where hues are chosen with thought and care to revive special memories or to help set a particular mood in a room.  Research has found that tint, colour saturation and tone all make a huge impact on our reactions to certain colours – often bringing back memories from happy youthful days.  We need more of that indeed!
